I have installed PayPal Standard but when I test the checkout the payment panel does not show a radio button next to the PayPal Standard text. And none for the 2 shipping options either. Please advise.

It possibly also depends on the Theme used, or something, but you mentioned neither
OC Version nor Theme, and you supplied no Link either, so, it cannot be said.
