OC Version 2.1.0.1

I understand there are lots of threads about this issue, however.

I'm here on behalf of a client, they have suddenly started receiving the PHP "Allowed memory size of nnnn bytes exhausted" error when just loading the index page. The Admin section works flawlessly.

What I tried:
1. Searching for any large images uploaded;
2. Changed the PHP memory_limit to 256M;
3. Changed the PHP memory_limit to 512M;
4. Empty cache folder;

However, nothing has worked.

How do we debug further?

Probably you have an extension added on index page and that extension has a problem in code.
e.g: can be an extension that get last 1000 products and for each product resize image

If you are new to OpenCart (or you don't have php/mysql skills) then disable extensions from home page one by one to find which one is ext with problem;
Problem can be also caused by some vqmod/ocmod extension.

Hi I'm the Client referred to in the above.
We have fixed the problem.
Just for reference it was one of the categories that had been edited/added yesterday by someone at the my customers end.
Not sure what they did but took the advice from this forum and uninstalled the Journal (Theme) module and reinstalled it.
When I added the the main menus (button's/categories) to the layout offending Category caused the front end returned the same 500 error.
We deleted the category and recreated it and it works fine now.
I only have to re-theme the site now ...

I think I may have to hold a training day on what not to do is in order ....
