I'm using OpenCart 1.4.8b and I've installed Options Plus v1.4.8 via the auto mod tool.

Everything is working fine except the images. I am not receiving any formal errors as such. The functionality is just not there. When selecting a new product option in the store that has a different image associated with it, nothing happens. I have no idea what could be causing this.

Any ideas?

Well I solved the image change problem. It was simply a file permissions problem. The folder was set on 0775 and not 0755. That fixed the problem.

I am still not getting the "Please choose..." text in the box though. The default option is just blank, like the text is not making it through it the box properly.

Also when you have to options if you select an option that doesn't have an image associated with it the image goes to the default. So for example you select a colour option and the image changes, great! Then you select a size option and the image changes to the wrong colour (base option) and now the product colour option and image don't align.

Is there a way to stop the image from changing when the option selected has no unique image?

That is a feature. What else do you want it to change to?

Ideally it wouldn't change at all...if there is no image associated with an option then it would be nice if it wouldn't change the current image. Is this possible? Ideally under each option value there would be a drop down or radio button for "image?" then if you selected yes it would then know to change the image...

Also I have no idea why the language for "please choose..." isn't showing up....

That doesn't sound ideal at all really..

If you have a product like ipod nano

The main pic could be the apple logo with the word "nano"
and you have white, black, blue, and red available for options

You set the white nano pic to the white option
You set the black nano pic to the black option
You set the blue nano pic to the blue option
And you forget to set red

You load the page and see the main pic and "Please select"
You choose white... you see white ipod pic
You choose black... you see black ipod pic
You choose blue... you see blue ipod pic
You choose red...

My way - Default to the main pic when there is no option pic. Intuitively implying there is no option pic.
Your way - Do nothing. Now you still see blue. So now your "red" ipod shows a blue pic. Doesn't really make sense

Yeah you've definitely got the basics covered with your mod, all I'm saying is it could use a little advancing for products with more variations.

Simple example: Clothing store.
Item - Plain T-Shirt
Options:
Size: S, M, L
Colors: Black, White, Navy

Default T-Shirt is white. Customer chooses black then picks his/her size medium. Customers says "WTF" why is my Medium Black T-Shirt now white even though I have already selected black.

In the admin section of options plus there should be an option that let's you select whether or not the option has an effect on the image.

This is a something that I think would be very useful. I'm sure others would agree.

Ah.. ok ... when mixing options you mean... I understand now.

Well the smartass answer is this:
if you want my code to handle all the possible options of running your store for you then put me on the payroll!
Otherwise, be sure you include an image for all options.

Yeah yeah. I know - we all need and want money. That's why I bought Options Plus in the first case because it is deserving of money.

Well for future versions of Options Plus - consider it?

From an SEO standpoint, think of using sizes as options, with no images and having each color as a separate item, gives you 3 or 4 or 5 or whatever descriptions / page titles / keywords compared to one.

Do some keyword checking and you will see many search by color. And with just a bit of varying text gives you 3 or 4 or 5 bites of the apple for the same price.

Yes that definitely did cross my mind but the problem is that the client doesn't want to go that route because typically a standard item comes in 10-20 colours. Anyway thanks guys.
