On another note, but still on the same subject. Every time there is a new release of OpenCart, within a few days I start receiving requests to update. This "pestering" has been more prevalent since the release of version 1.4.8 than any previous release. I even received 3 emails from the same person within a half hour period asking when I'm going to have updates available. None of those who pestered me were prepared to "encourage" me. Subsequently, the current range of modules have a price tag attached. I've also added a few extra features into them.

There will be an update to the calendar, and there will be a free version as well as a "pro" version. The free version will provide the same functions that already exist in the 1.4.7 release. The "pro" version will have extras like, attaching products to events and provision for recurring events. There has also been a suggestion somewhere in the forum to list events for the month as links in the calendar module itself, which could also be included in the "pro" version.Maansy wrote:i see they are not free anymore

You need to take into account that I first released the homepage and calendar modules way back at version 0.7.7, and have been maintaining them and keeping up to date for each release of OpenCart for the past 2 years. I spend just as much time coding a module and checking that everything works as someone who designs templates for OpenCart, yet people are quite happy to pay $29.99 for a template, yet complain if they have to pay somewhere between $2 and $5 for one of my modules.

If you're referring to the links in the calendar module, it probably was you who suggested it. I've had a few enquiries about including a recurring events function.Maansy wrote:wow, i like it so far. i believe it was me suggesting thatfido-x wrote:

I'm always open to ideas and (reasonable) suggestions.

1. That space is for the included javascript clock.
2. There is a stylehsheet provided for the calendar for the default template. Copy this to your own template's stylesheet folder and edit to suit.

Re-read the installation instructions, specifically under the heading "Catalog".

- Vote accepted with no option set.
- You could make votes all day until view results was clicked.
- New vote(s) was possible with a new session despite 7 day cookie.
Before reporting them, I tried them on the live server and everything was okay. It is because an option parameter necessary when using localhost is not used in Setcookie().
This is not a complaint; just a warning that if you test it offline and decide it doesn't work, you may be missing some fun!

I haven't noticed any of those.mystifier wrote:I couldn't resist having a play with PollPlus. When I tried it, I saw several problems such as:

When clicking the "Vote" button with no vote recorded, I get redirected to the error page.
Sure, I can make another vote IF I delete the cookies through browser preferences. There is no way to prevent this, unless I capture the IP address of the person voting and store it in the database, instead of using cookies. But that will only work IF they have a static IP address.

Given that it will generally be light-hearted, I think it is fine as it is using a cookie which expires in 7 days. Some will realise that if they delete the cookie or use a different browser they can vote again but I don't think that is important for a sidebox widget.
Good to have poll-to-store too so that it will only show in selected multi-stores.

Aah, right windows. That might have something to do with it. Or, it might just be an issue with using "localhost". I've named all my computers, so I never actually tried testing using "localhost".mystifier wrote:Again - it works fine online, it is only an issue on localhost (in my case wamp on win7).

see it in the defualt3 theme here
if anyone interested in how-to, just replace whats in the events.tpl with this:
Code: Select all
<?php if (isset($events)) { ?>
<?php foreach ($events as $event) { ?>
<?php if ($event['message']) { ?>
<div class="top">
<div class="left"></div>
<div class="right"></div>
<div class="center">
<h1>EVENTs</h1>
</div>
</div>
<?php if ($event['details'] != '') { ?>
<div class="middle" style="text-align: left;">
<?php echo $event['message']; ?>
<a href="<?php echo $event['href']; ?>"><?php echo $event['details']; ?></a>
</div>
<?php } ?>
<div class="bottom">
<div class="left"></div>
<div class="right"></div>
<div class="center"></div>
</div>
<?php } ?>
<?php } ?>
<?php } ?>

The correct method to add a title, would be to add the following to the controller (catalog/controller/module/events.php):Maansy wrote:i did a little tweek to make the event.tpl in front-store match the defualt top/bottom style.
Code: Select all
$this->data['heading_title'] = $this->language->get('heading_title');
Code: Select all
$_['heading_title'] = 'Events';
Code: Select all
<h1>EVENTs</h1>
Code: Select all
<h1><?php echo $heading_title; ?></h1>
