I Use opencart Version 2.2.0.0. i have 155 categories in my store and have 6 page but don't show any item of categoires in in page 6.i don't access 5 categories.
like as attached image:
you may still have Products, even sold ones, or some info, DB-stored, and linked to a not longer existing category,
there are several possibilities, I assume, eventually resulting in such a behaviour. Just to give you some ideas on such.

well, you could get a Pro, to have an inside look into this, if you cannot 'handle' it.
It's the usual way, in real life at least, when it comes to problems, to be fixed.
