if an order has been deleted, or several, does installing the trash module help restore the orders, or is it for anything after its been installed?

hi - i was reading about this module -
http://webkul.com/blog/opencart-trash/
and was wondering if it was effective for orders deleted BEFORE installing it.
I didn't review the oc database schema, but only in part - it doesn't seem to have historical record keeping,
so i imagine it wouldn't work for that. But i've been wrong before, so i thought it best to ask.

Couldnt tell you if this will restore data deleted BEFORE you install this module but it does state it is for version 1.5 so it wouldnt work on 2. versions as is

sorry that url was the first catch for the module - following thru i came across this for 2.x
https://www.opencart.com/index.php?rout ... arch=trash

and yeah the authors make it hard to contact so its impossible from just their marketing material what it really does.

If the module is not installed, how will it know about deleted items?

i think the best solution is to have a backup plan, something i did not have for the database. i am looking into automatic backups, seems there are a few nice ones out there. ordinarily i am in the wordpress world, where i have always a backup plan. in this case, i had a few manual sql backups, but fell short of the ideal.

Why do you not tell the truth?

As it reads, you (or someone else) have deleted some orders.
Can happen, while it should not.

Deleted items can never be restored - IF there is no tool installed (or like in some CMS per standard changed/deleted items are stored extra to restore).

In your case, only a older database backup will help (the one before the deletion was made).
