Hi All,
Looking for advice/tips on modules that would be suitable for selling my artwork using the opencart platform.
I would be selling the same item at different sizes, I have played around with the options which is fine but unable to set different weights and dimensions that maybe used for shipping calculations.
I can make them into separate items and keep them separate by keeping them in different sub categories but to me seams to be a messy solution.
Ideally I would have them as individual items and merge them into one listing with selecting the size as a drop down menu.
Many thanks for any suggestions/tips.
you are probably looking for something like this:
Super Options (1.5.x-2.3)

---
Kit Options 2
https://www.opencart.com/index.php?rout ... n_id=23400
---
Grouped Product - Bundle

but there is some work involved, in any case, to achieve this !
Good Luck !

How do you charge your shipping? If you have your own shipping formula to use, it sounds like regular options would suit you fine, but you'd need to have a shipping extension that can calculate things based on Option values, like Ultimate Shipping. It can create its own rates with various rules, including weight and option, so you can set the rates you need for different items.
If you instead need a live rate service like UPS or Fedex, then like Ernie suggests you'll probably want a mod that adds dimensions to option values. The one I'd recommend is this one, by ZumaDesign:
http://www.opencartx.com/options-modify ... dimensions
The author also has a version for OpenCart 2.x versions, which I'm sure he'd add at OpenCartX.com if you requested, or you can get it on opencart.com. Once you installed that, it should affect the live rate calculations of the shipping methods, as long as they take those things into account (which the built-in ones do not, unfortunately). You'd want to get a commercial UPS or Fedex or USPS extension, which is coded to factor in product dimensions. The ones I'd recommend are:
• UPS Deluxe (http://www.opencartx.com/ups-deluxe-15x-20x)
• FedEx Live Rates Global (http://www.opencartx.com/fedex-global-l ... rt-15x-20x)
• USPS Pro (http://www.opencartx.com/usps-pro)
The first two are by Qphoria, and the third one is mine. I can't guarantee they'll work with the "Options Modify Product Dimensions" extension, but at least for my own, if it doesn't work I'll fix it to make sure it does. ZumaDesign might also know if their extension works with Qphoria's, so you could try contacting them about it.
