Hi boys and girls.

I'm working on a new shop, using OC 2.3.0.2.

I've installed an extension I used in 1.5.5.1, Background Image Change.
The latest version is supposed to work for 2.3.0.2.

I've installed the extension. When I edit the extension and try to save I get the message "You do not have permission to access this page, please contact your system administrator."

The permissions are set right. Very few extensions are installed so I doubt that there exist any conflicts.

What causes the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, I clicked the refresh button at Extensions /Modifications.

Sometimes if the extension is not compatible with 2.3, it does shows - you don't have permission.

That was my thought as well.
In the extension's download section it says that the latest compatible version is 2.0.3.1, but in the comments section the developer says "the module will work fine on OC 2.3.0.2".

If I assume the extension really works with 2.3.0.2, what could cause the problem?

The developer is wrong. Extensions need to be explicitly updated for OpenCart 2.3, due to the new extension directory structures, or you need to be using something like my OpenCart 2.3 Extension Compatibility Fix. That allows older extensions that are compatible with 2.2 to work fine on 2.3.

I looked at that extension and it does not seem to have been updated for 2.3. You'll need to request that the developer do this for you, or use a 2.3 compatibility fix.

lz1nud and Jonathan, you were both right.

The extension developer, Stone, stated very clearly on his extension site that: "The module will work fine on OC 2.3.0.2."
Now, he told me that he was wrong, it's not compatible. :hammer:

He offers to make the extension work for 2.3.0.2 if I buy another license.

A strange way of doing business. It's not enough that the client buy his extension once? If they want an updated version they are forced to buy another license. It really should be in the developers interest to sell updated versions of his extension.

No way I waste another USD15 on his extensions. There are other better options.
