Hello everyone

Looking for some advice on how to configure quantity discounts on a product which has options.

I have a personalised product with an option field for the customer to specify the letter or number they want on the product. I want to offer a discount on the product if they buy 4 or more. However because each option adds to the cart as a separate item the discount never comes into effect.

Is there a way around this?

Any advice would be much appreicated :)

Check this product combination extension.
You can set up offer only on certain product options based on quantity of that option.
Discounts are automatically shown when required quantity is added

It looks good, but I just want to be sure before purchasing..

The discount should be applied based on the quantity of the same product_id, and not the options (because there are infinite options a customer can type in the text field).

For example I have one product which is a tshirt with a text option for customers to write the text they want on the tshirt.
Every time they complete the text field and add to cart it displays in the cart as a separate product. I want the cart to give a discount after X amount of this same tshirt product is added (ignoring the options).

Does this make sense?

Thank you

Hi,

But currently also when you will add text to product and click add to cart then you shall see it as new product. Because option value shall be different and hence it shall create a new product in cart. This thing works by default in opencart.
I think only when same text is added. It would increase quantity of same product.

You can try this. This is inbuilt in opencart itself and make sense completely.

If cartbinder's solution doesn't end up working out for you, Category & Product-Based Fee/Discount can create discounts for groups of products, regardless of the options that are applied to them. It will not affect the price display of the product, since it's an Order Total extension, but the discount would successfully show up once the products were in the cart.

If your discount only applies to products with certain options on them, you could instead use Ultimate Fee/Discount, which has "Options" rules in addition to all the rules of Category & Product-Based. Feel free to take a look at the screenshots and demo site, and if you're interested let me know at www.getclearthinking.com/contact if you have any further questions.
