This is a first.... I have been using 1.5.6.4 for a long time with the latest version of Jneuhoffs free import/exprt tool (opencart-1-5-1-to-1-5-6-x-export-import-multilingual-3-4.zip)

All of a sudden I am now getting a semi-blank page with:
The http://www.website.com page isn’t working

http://www.website.com didn’t send any data.
ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE

I've spent a lot of time with my webhost's tech support and they do not see an issue. I also looked on the website for any/all errors and there are none.

THEN I noticed when I attempt to do a database backup / restore using the built in backup/restore in OC it gives the same thing.

Also on the front end sometimes I get a 502 error when browsing the website. I had them restore from August 5th, both the database AND the webfiles and no change....

Has anyone seen this before?
Any suggestions?

Thank you,
Mike

Ok.... I am frustrated and think I should walk away.

The front and backend of the store mostly work... But I am frustrated at the fact that a lot of my products and prices are changing and I run across this... Part of me started to start from scratch... i.e. I uploaded the zip file to the webhost and I was JUST about to built a new database and start the install and see what happens but that is a rabbit hole I can't do this weekend....

So since order and such work, I'll just have to make my price changes manually, not include new products and hope for the best for this weekend....

BUT if ANYONE has a location to look, I would LOVE the suggestion... Database, htaccess settings, php.ini settings, files?
There hasn't been many changes that should account for the backend of the cart not working when the built in backup or the import/export tool is used.... They DID work... Just don't know what happened to make them stop working...

It could be server related or a bad internet connection too.
I suggest to sign up for statuscake.com (not affiliated) and have them monitor the uptime of your site. It's free!

Attn: I no longer provide OpenCart extensions, nor future support - this includes forum posts.
Reason: OpenCart version 3+ ;D

Thanks!

I do use one of those monitoring services but it reports all good.
I looked at EVERY log I could find it no errors beyond a simple couple of VQmod related ones that I have meant to fix but they are not pressing (been that way for years BTW).
There were errors from back in 2015 but of course they are not relevant.

I tried from my house and my girlfriends house too and used her Mac to try... all same results.

The odd part is the back-up works for the database, it is just when I try a restore it fails out with that "ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE"....

I'm at a loss and feel like I can fix it BUT I have spent too many hours of today searching..... Right now I am uploading an old version of the cart into a different directory and seeing what happens there.

One more interesting thing, well maybe not,, but when you hover over the tab that shows you what the site's title is, it has domain.com/index.php?route=tool/export/download&token=adakadfjhfueryhfjf failed to load

Still sort of lost but... still plugging away...

To add all details but make it pretty short....
I took my Gold copy from last year (2015) and uploaded it in a new directory, created a database, imported the .sql file into it. Changed config.php files to match to new directory.

Same issue.

After a couple of hours with my webhost's tech support we walked through files that were not part of Opencart.

The final fix was to ADD "AddHandler application/x-httpd-php56 .php" to the htaccess file to the ADMIN directory.

This worked perfectly for the last year and my gold copy also was working when I made that copy back in 2015.
I have zero clue why it worked every month, sometimes 20+ times a month, for the last year without a single problem until the last couple of weeks and THEN why we had to specifically tell it to use php version 5.6 on the admin side to get this to work again.
