A whole forum for feature requests. I know there's a thread open for them, but it would be nicer to have a whole forum dedicated to requests. That way people don't have to search through pages and pages to see if something has been requested.

Also, A "like" button would be nice. That way if somebody posts a good feature request that could be used by everybody, people could just hit a "I like this" button instead of diluting down the threads. It would also be an easy way of judging which feature request ideas are the most popular.

I see no need for such a Forum, even now people do not read what others have posted in just one topic and then we would have 1001 topics with the same requests and reply's.

No thanks!

I guess its kinda the same.

Now we have 1 thread with multiple posts
You want 1 forum with multiple threads

The concept is still pretty much the same. You can also use the "Search within this topic" box at the top of each thread as well.

On the other hand, it might be good to have a strict area for features as many people overlook the topic. As it is now, people tend to put ideas in the development forum, the general discussion forum, the website suggestion forum...

So maybe it might be worth a try.

Honestly, I've been trying to think of a better forum layout, as it seem 95% of all stuff goes into general support and its a mess. This might be a good place to start.

Ipaq... You've proven my point.

People don't read every ones posts because it's time consuming and redundant to go back over what every else has already posted to see if it's relevant to them. If we could already know what other feature requests have been by their title, and having a "like" or even a "dislike" button, you would not have 1001 posts of the same request and replies... You'd have 1 post, with 1000 like or dislike responses. I've seen it done on other forums very successfully. It would help streamline and guide the authors in a direction of what should be highly considered for future releases and help improve the over-all quality of Open Cart.

I understand as a moderator you'd rather have 1 thread to sift through since you keep up on a post-to-post basis, but there are people (such as myself), that do not. It would be easier for the general users of this website to be able to just read titles of a thread and determine whether or not it's relevant to them, then reply. I still have not read the 7 or so pages of all feature requests, so I really don't know if my requests have been posted before or not.

like i said there is that "Search this topic" right at the top of the first post that will help. But I'm also not against trying a separate forum

Understandable, I'll use the search feature for now. But that still doesn't address if somebody has posted something I haven't thought of yet, but still think it's a good idea. :P

I would put my hand up for a Feature Request Forum that could perhaps be split into sections/centric threads. Must admit I find it sometimes confusing trying to understand where people are coming. The mix of posts tend to get responded to with a mixed bag .

As an example: An email feature request is posted and the next post appears to go off on a tangent until you realise that a post 5-10 places previously is what that reply relates to. Yes people could quote the post they are responding to, but how many remember or do this??

Would also be good to restrict to Feature Requests ONLY and no discussions on the subject; after all it is you guys who do the developing that ultimately decide what features can be included. It would also help the module developers fill in the gaps until the core can absorb a particular "feature".

This has to be the smartest thing you've ever posted :) ;D ;D ;D

It might be nice to have something split into sections
Like maybe
Feature Request Forum
- Catalog Features (subforum)
- Admin Features (subforum)

And you do have a point, in a single thread, ideas posted on page 1 are easily reposted on page 4 because there is no topic title. Tho I fear since it has been shown that 98% of our community can't read well anyway past 4 lines, it might still end up with multiple posts

I'm unable to post a new topic in the new Features Request forum, and I'm signed in. Are posts blocked in that forum for some reason?

You can only post a new topic, not reply to any.

Nobody seems to be taking me seriously. I CANNOT POST NEW TOPICS IN THE FEATURES REQUEST FORUM. The icon to post a new topic is not there (and I am certain that I am logged in).

I also don't like that it's not possible to post replies to the new topics which are posted. People need to to add their own ideas to the topic. For example, someone requested an ALL Products module. Well, that is easy to do already by creating an All Products category. But I can't say that because I can't post any replies!

You need to open up that forum and let people discuss things.
