Admin you can remove this post if you do not feel its appropriate

Well we all know (probably when we stumbled across opencart) there are thousands of free carts out there. Yesterday I came across a new project called TomatoCart. All I can say is wow! it looks amazing, i think we have seen the future of online web applications. I have never seen an admin panel used in this way, from a development point of view its extremely impressive and due to their large team of developers things have come on extremely fast for such a young project.

Now the bad news, the code is no way near as clean as opencart and to create and module or theme is just a nightmare, using oscommerce as a base is not a grate start!

Still a pretty cool project just have a play in the admin panel its pretty cool.

Based on an early version of osCommerce V3.

Admin looks like a Windows desktop ;)
I do like the Order Entry/Order Edit.

well I personally don't like the desktop for admin. The way they have changed the look of the checkout procedure is not too bad. Starting with an oscommerce base even V3 is just a bad idea in my opinion.

It has some grate features and admin panel is really cool idea.

Just the oscommerce base letting it down, even though they have cleaned up some of the code its still a mess compared to OC.

It's pretty, ain't it! :) . The old admin panel was not good, but they've really worked hard on it, and come up with something different.
However, the shop front didn't thrill once I got past the slideshow. It's tidy and attractive, but there is a lot of page refreshing, not much ajax... or maybe I'm biased! (OK, I am). Good for them, though, it's a very decent looking project from the outside. Didn't look at the code.

wow I'm really surprised to hear so many people like the whole windows desktop in a browser idea for the admin. To me it just seems much more complicated than a well organized standard webpage type layout.

I think its the future of the web, I read all the time about the blend of making the web like a desktop, applications are on the web not on your HDD. I can see this being the way we will all run our software in future.

But I do agree with you, I would rather use a 'web' layout as its what I'm more comfortable with and I think its faster to get things done that way. I think it would get annoying after a while when the novelty rubs off.

Ah, i don't like extjs to use as backend for internet application unless the internet connection is real fast. I like simplicity and responsive UI just like opencart backend. For local or lan, then EXTJS is superb! as i code in extjs as well, the development is easier and the UI will always look consistent. For people who not familiar with EXTJS, the source will look strange, so it's harder to modify. Did i say everything was javascript eh?

The developer of that cart is in Jiangsu Province, China. This is the center of priacy and scamming in China.

If I were using that cart I would live in fear that one day my PayPal would be wiped clean.

I sell goods from China daily, chat with Chinese folks every day of the year and have great respect for most of them. But I would never consider something like that, I'd always be wondering if there were something in the code that would enable them to see into my business or get into my funds.

I tried it but after the coolness factor wore off, I started to think if this was the way I wanted my workflow to go on a small screen. IF I had a huge 20"+ monitor then maybe that might be the way to go.
