Upgrade

HI I have got v1.5.2.1 and want to know is it worth upgrading to v2
Would I be better doing it in stages?
and when I make a back up, do I store it on my computer and will I not loose any products and info?
Sorry I must sound really stupid.

Upgrading from 1.5.x.x is kind of a mess right now. You definitely do not want to do this on your live store. You're going to want to make a copy of your live store without any extra mods installed and basically follow the instructions at http://bit.ly/1MF1Gu4 which will only get you to opencart version 2.1.0.x. I have done that and it does work but is not for the faint of heart.
There is another post on how to go from 2.1.0.x to 2.2 at http://bit.ly/1MF2a3F. I have not tried it.

Like I said, I have not attempted an upgrade from 1.5.x.x to 2.2 but that is being worked on and discussed in a thread at http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php?f=181&t=159898. I'm going to try that one next and see what happens.

Again, and there are many threads on this in the forum. Do Not Attempt An Upgrade on a live store. Something can and probably will go horribly wrong and you will be out of business.

Alternately you can just hire someone to do this for you at for example http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route ... ch=upgrade.
Seems like a deal to me but I like to try it myself.
