Is there a product and stock feed module?

Hi I hope this is an okay place to post this.

I am working on a site that will be getting some of its products via Dropship. The company have both rss and xml feeds of there current products as well as a stock feed. Ideally I'd like to not have to enter this manually as this is not my full time job.

So far I can see very few extensions (especially at quite a low budget) that allow me to import this data on a regular basis. Even if it's just once daily and I have to press a button rather than completely auotomated. They do have their own automation plugin available but I can't afford the £149 they want for it.

I understand an API can be built for this sort of thing and although I know some code and how to understand it I know nothing about xml and API.

Is anyone able to point me in the right direction for a hopefully cheap extension or a tutorial I can follow to make th API myself? I understand all of these applications and extensions take a great deal of time to make and am not necessarily wanting a free option but I have an extremely limited budget at this time.

I use total import pro from hostjars. It costs a bit but it is very powerful and it allows wjat you need

Thanks so much it looks fantastic and exactly what I'm after. It even has my dropship per already listed.

However despite it being on sale it's still a bit much. Unfortunately I'm not making things easy for myself and $40 is probably the highest I can go. Even that's pushing it

Is there anyone here who can point me in the direction of tutorials so I can learn what I need to write my own?

I've found one thread here which gives the code to update stock levels but it doesn't say where to implement and I don't know if I can edit this to include all product information. Also things mention cron jobs and I have no clue where to begin with one of those!

Help please?

hmm, do you really think it is cheaper for you to develop a complex tool instead of paying, one shot a hundred (or so) of dollars?

It's a case that I don't physically have that money to spend otherwise I happily would.

Also as I'm very interested in learning development i like to write my own code and do as much of it myself as I can, I just don't always know where to begin.
