When Customer Group is changed, Password change is mandatory

When clicking on menu, "Customers", it brings up a list of customers. Then, click the "Edit" icon on the right, brings up the customer general info. When we change the customer group from Bronze to Silver (different pricing for these groups), it requires us to change the password for the customer. We should not be changing customer passwords, just to change the customer group they are in.

Please advise if I'm missing another method of changing the customer group for a customer.

To be really honest I never heard about a similar need and never experienced in several years.
Maybe you have some custom mods changing standard behavior because it is not what usually happens.
You should check your code so, to find where is the problem.
Btw, which Opencart version are you using?

This is a vanilla install, with the exception of the Import/Export tool by Neuhoff. That is the only extension installed.

Just seems odd that you would require to change customer password when the customer group is changed. The 2 seem unrelated.

OK, so my browser had cached the password but not the confirm password. When using a different browser, I noticed this. After removing the ****** in the password field, all saved without issue.
