Hello,

Currently working on 3 big projects with 8000+ links indexed each in Google, I am about to migrate them all to OpenCart, yet since I am new to opencart, I am curious what module/plugin could manage my redirection without hassle. Since we speak about two different platforms changes in link structure will be significant.

Second issue, is there a module, or option to import products via external url in XML format, if so what are the best solutions for such product implementation, we speak about 5000+ products to import from external sources.

Regards,
Cosmin

I have a Redirect Manager extension that could be used to enter redirects in your new OpenCart installation. Note that it requires the link be processed by OpenCart, so if your old links are still active you'll need to disable whatever software is still processing them (or else use htaccess for the redirects instead).

It supports wildcards, but can only replace parts of the new URL that are in the same order as the old URL. If you need functionality like htaccess, you probably should just use htaccess for that -- it has more powerful wildcard-type functionality. The extension does support importing/exporting to CSV, so if you can set up your links that way it should work for you.

Note that you'd likely need a license for each store if they are for three separate businesses. You can contact me at www.getclearthinking.com/contact if you want further clarification on that.

For your product import/export functionality, there are a ton of CSV import/export extensions, with varying levels of function. I haven't used any of them, but Qphoria has a good reputation, and has a Uber CSV extension that might work for you.

@Johnathan

Thanks for the reply,

First about the redirection, the old shops are not in OpenCart, and the link structure is completely changed, so more or less I was hopping to get a smart redirect plugin that can make use of htaccess and based on regex to do all work for me.

As for XML product feed I already found a good plugin.

If you need full regex functionality, you should just use htaccess. I don't think any redirect extension (including mine) has quite that level of capability. It's something I'd like to add in the future, but I'm not sure when I'll get to it.
