show options on add to cart

I am looking for something that will let the user instantly checkout after they add to cart...
I do not want a buy now button, but instead display the cart/item with a couple of options.. checkout - or - continue shopping.
I have seen this on a few themes so I am wondering if an extention exists to make it happen on 2.1.0.1 default.
