I've read a lot about image quality but still do not know why my images are fuzzy.

I use the journal 2 theme.

I have an dead sharp image of 425 x 425 pixels. I have set the image size in the control panel for the pop-up at 425.
Whenever I go to my catalog or product page the image is blurry, UNTILL I click on the thumbnail on the productpage (which is the same image.) It than reloads and voila..it's sharp. Also if i click on the gallery it shows the same pic sharp.

Why are all my images blurry on the catalog and productpage? Somehow opencart seems to compress them for 'first show'?

I have a SSD server and really really want all of my images to be sharp. So I take for granted that loading might take a little longer.

ps. I've tried with other imagesettings, and with pics up to 800 x 800 pixels PNG. Same problems.

The images are still being resized by the browser and this can make them blurry.

The open cart system also sets the quality of the image at 90% Lots of posts which go into this and how to change

Hi, I set the quality from 90 to 100 before without results.

Blurry shows on all computers, checked on multiple desktops, laptops and tablets.

I use the same pictures on another webshop (not opencart) and they shop up sharp in that shop.

I found out that my images look great when I use firefox, but are blurry when i use safari of chrome?

Somehow there is a big difference between the browsers. Is there a way to force all the browsers to display the images sharp?

It seems like the problem might be how different browsers show the images. You can try saving your images in bigger sizes or make sure they match the size you set in OpenCart. Also, check if any CSS or JavaScript is resizing them. You could try using other formats like PNG or WebP for clearer images across browsers. Also, I recommend you can use tool like this png compressor for reducing the file size of your images. This tool supports many formats such as PNG, webp, jpeg, and many more.
