Hi,

I really wish opencart would have comprehensive documentation on how things work. I was under the impression that when an affiliate signs up they don't get any discounts, but commission from other buyers their links brought to the site?

I just approved an affiliate and they bought a couple of items and they got the % discount and a commission from their own purchase??

What's going on here are they clicking their own links?

Yes, they can use their own link and get commission for their own orders.

In regular (no extensions) openCart, affiliate account and customer account are completely separate - separate login and everything.
When someone who has affiliate account buys something, they do that using customer account, and the system does not know or care - do they also have affiliate account or they don't.

And there is no any special discount for affiliates, again because when they buy something, the system doesn't even notice that they are affiliates. If they got the discount, that must be for some other reason than being an affiliate. Unless of course you use some extension(s), which provide this functionality.

I can't think of any extension I have or any other option that would allow discounts unless there's something conflicting with the affiliates account? I think the customer does have an affiliate account and a normal account.

I've seen the extensions that combine the two so I think I'll have to get that.

I really can't understand why opencart would create a system like this? It just seems really messy.

Ok I think I know what happened in regards to the discount. I think the dashboard didn't update the currency? So instead of AUD it changed it to USD so it looked like a discount.

In admin everything is in your default currency.
