WARNING:

The member theclownoftightness (Collin - Take5Designs.com) is not a man of his words. He is offering professional development, delivery day etc. and is simply not performing. When the delivery day is past, he is cutting off the communication.

Be aware of it, he has caused damage to me and I believe it's fair to say he will cause damage to you as well.
If you have any question, concerns etc. send me a PM.

Im sorry to hear that Merlin, although I do not share this experience with you at all. I found Collin to be extremely valuable and helpful. And most of all - at a very low hourly rate! I don't really know how you could go wrong with this guy, our project wouldn't be live this quick if it wasn't for him. We got 2 programmers on the team and needed help with a complex import-parser that updates our entire store on a daily basis from a live xml-feed with stock-status, expired products, new products ect. We can now sit back and relax knowing our 1800 products is in constant sync with our ware-house and shipment facilities, know also that our products are quite complex and has extra additional options and loads of attributes (color, size, batteries included or not ect). He solved what the other two programmers had struggled with for 2 days in 3 hours. He just completed(html/css) a design that is so different from opencarts original layout that it wont even be recognizable its running on opencart, he did it in three workdays. He communicates really well and had no problem obtaining the necessary information needed from the other two programmers on the team. Im not the guy who normally writes a testimonial like this about someone, but i feel Collin really deserves it after your description.

Im sorry to hear it didnt work out for you two.

Things can go wrong for a number of reasons.

Merlin did you get a terms of service contract from him? If you have a contract giving completion dates? If you did you will have a good case to take legal action against him.

If you didn't get a terms of service or at least some sort of milestone/time frame contract always request one up front. Any reputable business will give you one.

Wow, I got popular. Hi, I'm theclownoftightness... I'm just letting everyone know that I did not take any money from Abraxas, he lost nothing in this transaction, which I feel should have been pointed out. I have worked with many people on this forum and have performed quite well I might add. I did take longer than expected to get this module done, it was a very sophisticated module to build. However, after a few snide comments from Abraxas regarding delivery I was a little offended, and decided not to respond any longer.

I appreciate the comments from tuffnut. We've had a great experience so far, and I'm still working with him to this day :) . I am available to hire everyone, at a very reasonable rate I might add. Building custom modules for only $20. And I'm available on skype pretty much 20 hours out of the day. I am a strong programmer and everyone is always impressed with my work.

Abraxas, I hope you have found someone else to create the module for you, and the best of luck to you in your future endeavors. I just am not one to work with someone who shows disrespect.

For those looking for custom opencart work, I can provide many many references.

Thank you,

theclownoftightness

Well I have asked him to carry out some work for me, thought I'd give him ago as not many people are currently developing for opencart and he seemed to have a grate review above.

I e-mailed him a number of times asking when it will be complete as it had already been over a week. He eventually got back to me a few days later and said this weekend (that's the one just gone). I have e-mailed a few times over this week asking what is going on but still no reply! Not bad for someone who spends '16h's a day' in front of their computer.

So I can only repeat what the original poster said, cuts of all communication with you once the due date has passed.

He didn't want any payment upfront so nothing financially lost, but have lost alot of time.

Just an update, 2hours after posting this he responded to me saying he had the work ready and it just needed a few things adding and it will be ready in 6hours. That was 6days ago.

He cut of all contact again and will not respond to any e-mails or P.M just a heads up.

Twiggy, that's exactly what he did with me as well. He has no grounds to talk like this: "I just am not one to work with someone who shows disrespect." He simply hypes you up and then drops the communication.

There is certainly no respect for bad boys like him - non professional, below any moral standard and a code junky with a big mouth.

Afraid I have to second what Twiggy and Abraxas have said. His lack of communication is unprofessional and unnerving. I lost 2-1/2 weeks of development time. Three times he told me he was done or nearly so, then...nothing. It's simply not worth the crazy-making.

I can absolutely recommend Jay Gilford's work. He saved my ass after this debacle. IM him on this board if you need help. http://forum.opencart.com/memberlist.ph ... le&u=11575

I will third this. The guy is a good coder and is fairly priced but his lack of communication is absolutely unprofessional. We agreed on a job....he did most of it but took wayyyyyyy longer then expected. I paid him assuming he would finish up the job we discussed seeing that there was only a small part left and things were moving. He then cut off all communication and never finished the job. I even offered him more money to get it done but he ignored me. I could not use the work he did complete without the final piece so I had to get it done elsewhere. Stay far away from this guy.

Really makes me wonder why people bother agreeing to a job if they don't want to go through with it. And by the looks of it he's done this to a few people :-\
