I have just upgraded from 1.5.6.4 to 2.1.0.1. In the previous version that I was using I could remove the selection of customer type from registration - at this time I have a Default and a VIP customer type. The VIP customer type is to be given only to the first 100 customers and then all new customers will be Default.
I can not find what I need to do to remove this from the registration page - if I do not do this then all customers will logically choose VIP. Could someone point me in the right direction?

Under customergroups you can set for each group if they have to be approved or not
next in system settings, your store under tab options you will find accounts, here you can set wich customer groups are selecteble for your registring customers
