The time has come to freshen up a site that I look after and rather than just apply a new themeI'd like to get rid of as much of the old set-up as possible because it's a bit of a rubber bands and sticky tape type affair. Also we were hacked a couple of months back and although everything seems to be clean now I'd rather not take the chance.

Is there any simple way of me doing this...
1. Install 2.0.x into a sub-directory
2. Export 1.5.6.4 database
3. Import into the 2.0.x site
4. Copy image folder from old site to new site

I don't need the old theme or mods or anything else.

The information regarding this is extremely difficult to make any sense of, some people are saying it's nigh on impossible, others are saying it's as easy as 1, 2, 3, Bob's your uncle.

Alternatively, would installing 1.5.6.4 in a sub-directory, exporting old db, importing old db, copying image folder across, then run the upgrade to 2.0.x be a better idea? So basically duplicate the current site except that the only folder I'd be moving would be /image.

Thanks,
Ty
