Extended Search Filters?

Hi,

First off, apologies if this is in the wrong place! Very new to all of this would be an understatement, just a quick question. Basically, I was wondering if there was a way I can add more filters in order to perform a more extensive search when people search for products on the site, to filter the available sizes and colours etc if that makes sense?
It might be a complete misfire and not be any way around it, but figured I'd have a nose around here and ask! Again apologies if this is in the wrong place or just a completely stupid question !!
