Additional shipping for out of stock items

Hi

I currently have a client who I use weight based shipping on. They want to allow certain products to be bought that are 'out of stock', which can be done. But if someone buys one of these products along with a 'regular' product they want shipping adding twice as the out of stock product would be sent out later than the regular product.

I'm a bit stumped on this at the moment... does anyone have any advice/opinions on how I could achieve this.

Can't you just set those out of stock products to have double the weight (or whatever would make the charge double in value)?

If not, you may need to create specific rates for those products, with an extension like Category & Product-Based Shipping.
