Live price update

I am trying to implement the following javascript which auto updates a price on a product page when a dropdown box containing different options is selected.

Can someone look into why the price under the title won't update when another option from the dropdown is selected? Any Javascript debugging advice would also be useful to determine the new variables re being pulled through correctly.

Out of curiosity, is there any reason why the above one wouldn't work? Appreciate it's relevant for a much older version of opencart but the crux of code relevant for this appears to be the same?

I can only state that mine works and has been around over 4 years so I believe in my own code
