It's probably not un-popular, that some wanna try to install older Version Mod's, despite of the information, and your own experience, that most of them will not work.
But, as a conseqzuence of such doings, you will probably end up with lots of 'things', laying around on your Server, possibly even having/leaving some effect on the DB as well. So, it's just a bad praxis, what your'e trying to achieve. But you will find out, the hard way, sooner or later, I bet...!
BUT: Why not just use one of the well done v.1.5.6.4 + Setup's, available, then, you'll have all the Mod's you want. Your Version is not 'final' yet anyway, so, it really makes no sense, trying to ride on a horse, unable to jump (yet), without the good chance of breaking it's legs, possibly. But that's just my very personal feeling, by reading, what's going on. I don't have any personal v.2.x experience yet.
BTW: Mod's could be updated, and/or adopted, to meet V.2.whatever Versions. But it's of little use, at a stage, when not even all existing v.2.whatever Mod's keep on working, if an internal v.2.x-whatever Version-Update is made.
In addition, it's hard work, for NOTHING, eventually, if so much would already be available for FREE, like on v.1.5.6.x! In Contrary, I assume, MUCH KNOWLEGE will not longer come for free, like in all the other Places, where Freeware Software is offered, combined with commercial 'Interaction', kind of...!
One Reason may be: Check the Extension Section! Then you'll see,a Mod with ~8'000 Downloads, 4 Thank You Star Clicks, and many Downloaders even EXPECT to get personally advised on installation and Options, not installed in the free Version in the first Place. Does anyone really believe, that it will work, on a longer Term, this way? Or, on the Forum, the great majority of Reply's to Postings, related to assistance-calls, are not even confirmed, the Help it's taken, and forgotten. After all, they come here go get PRIORITY business-assistance, for free, and fast, not just to waste costly time, I assume...
But the real World does not come just for FREE, without anything in return.
In addition, the rather 'fundamental' OC Change, to some extend, at least, possibly had 'some' Effect on 'mental Association', as well, by a range of former Aid's, partly already involved on those new 'derrivate-type' Developments around, instead of further investing their 'time' into projects, seemengly not longer so 'interesting'. To some, at least....
Somehow, I see some Similarities, between WIN8 and NewOC. Both where not ready TO GO, when they arrived, in the first place, to be 'just' usable, in a familiar and functional way. Possibly, too much for some of for those, to keep on adding their 'wisdom', especially not on a free Bases. That's, what I fear, at least. It's gonna be interesting, to see, how it turn's out, I'm sure about that...
Still, as you can see, I have my little assortment of 1.5.x ZIP's, plus xx Themes, and xxx RAR's, and everything else, on knowledge and Parts, required to fullfill my Extension-Dreams, whatever may come...
I just figured, to let you know, how I feel about it, after playing around with OC 1.5.6.x for the past 17 months. And using an automatic Product-Generator, since I really have nothing to sell !
