Coupon Limitations

Hi, I was just wondering if there is any limitations on the number of products you can apply a coupon to? I have a large store with over 3000 items and I wish to put about 2500 of these items on a sale. I can save the coupon but it defaults the status to Disable and puts in dummy Start and Finish dates. The error I get is

any ideas? a small sale coupon with only a few products works fine.

Help!!

Opencart don't have such limitation. Are you selecting some category with 2500 products or x number of products?
