Conflicting canonical URLs for "sub" categories

Version 2.0.2.0 default template.

If you move any of your categories into a parent category, then you will now have two identical pages, and they will both have canonical URLs pointing to themselves.

For example.

mywebsite.com/phones/iphones

and

mywebsite.com/iphones

These are the same exact pages, yet, they both say they are the canonical version of that page!

I would appreciate a fix for this if anyone has it, thanks.

Wow...two months go by and not one response to this excellent question. I have been researching rel="canonical" link tags in OC for a bit and didn't even recognize this problem until I saw it here. Hopefully my post (Subject: Setting rel="canonical" path) will get someone's attention. The fix seems both obvious and relatively simple: The data tab of each product and category needs to add a Canonical Path variable immediately below the SEO Keyword variable. Anyone out there that can lend their support? :-D
