Cannot assign product to category and subcategory to parent

Hello there, I've encountered a big problem trying to assign a product to a category and subcategory to any parent category. I guess autocomplete is not working as options are not shown once you try to write smth to a category name.

Auto Complete will only show 5 of whatever categorys you have, you need to type further.

In the admin, edit the relevant product. Under the "Links" tab, you choose the category (or categories) you wish the product to appear under.
To make a sub-category, edit the category in the admin. Under the "Data" tab, select the parent category. The "parent" is the category that your sub-category will appear under.
