Colorbox not working for only newly added products

OC 1.5.5.1 Customized default theme
Customized and added my new theme; all images that I added prior to uploading the new theme to server, appear as they should. Ok, good, JOY. However, items that I am adding to the theme now, the pop-up does not overlay the main product image,has no border, title, arrows or X to close it.
This bit of ugly full screen pop-up which brings NO JOY whatsoever:.

Have checked the local files and compared to the server files, can find nothing different.Never went into the Colorbox files for anything, but checked that the colorbox images are there. Can not figure out why this is happening. Have spent the entire day on this, including deleting the 2 existing images which are giving me the problems, clearing the cache and reuploading them and ..zero...the same thing.
Can anyone shed some light on this? Perhaps I am not seeing the forest for the trees?
