Move Greeting Text to Header

The string below appears in /catalog/template/default/content/home.tpl


Evidently, if you're logged in, this string displays "Welcome " and if you're not it prompts you to register or log in.

I'd like this string to appear in the header of each page. So I'm thinking I can just add that string to /catalog/template/default/module/header.tpl

But this generates the following error.


Notice: Undefined variable: text_greeting in /home/.bafflers/jewelz/jewelznthingz.com/site/catalog/template/default/module/header.tpl on line 1

I must say, the templating structure for OpenCart seems quite convoluted. So many places to update for a single change.

Maybe I'm just a newbie and will get used to it.
