Hi,

I have SEO urls enabled and the .htaccess enabled.

Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)\?*$ index.php?_route_=$1 [L,QSA]

The rewrite work perfectly for product and categories but when I click on a category and then on a product within a category I have two .html pages stacked in one link:

http://www.rangerdetector.com/ranger-se ... ector.html

Cart version 1.4.7

Is there any way to fix this?

Is this due to the keywords that you have set up.
I'd guess that the seo keyword for your catagory is "ranger-security-handheld-metal-detectors-model-1000-and-1500.html" and then the seo keyword for the product is "ranger-security-model-1500-handheld-metal-detector-wand.html"

I suggest that you use shorter seo keywords or drop the html from the catagories

No worries,

From the look of the site you are selling some niche products :-)

so basically I have to add

seo_keyword.html

as seo keywords in order for the script to make it look like an actual html page?

does this works with Google and all other search engines?

Thanks!

Just leave the .html off - save yourself hassle.

It has no effect whatsoever. There is nothing wrong with a URL such as:
http://www.rangerdetector.com/ranger-se ... 0-and-1500

Wordpress uses that format and is used by millions of people, and is indexed no problem. I'm guessing in 5 years time you'll never see .html on any website.

Agreed. I read somewhere that this shows that you have good folder structure, which can help with SEO.

I heart cmd-f, cmd-c, cmd-v, cmd-z + vQmod.
