Possible to add custom meta tag via the controller?

Hi all!

Is there any way to add a custom meta tag using only the page's controller file. For example, if I want to add this tag to the product pages:

<meta property="og:image" content="<?php echo $image; ?>" />

Could I write this into the controller product.php only without changing more core files? Any smart person having an idea?
