I have now finally installed in my shop. I am ready to create categories and add products, but every time I create a category, it disappears from the backend. I can see that it has been created since it can be found on the frontend.
Same problem I have when I change the "information" and press save then it disappears from the backend? How can it be? Hope you can help me.

Did you do anything with differend languages and disabeling any?

Yes - I have Danish language on my frontend only, but still English on backend.

Did you disable any of these languages?

I have disabled English from my frontend so my costumers only can choose Danish language.
My backend is all in English.

ehh.. I guess I never expected people would disable a language to hide it from the front end only. In 1.4.7 I made disabling a language to actually disable it.. period.. from all areas.

This is the second person to do this.. I guess I'll put it back to the way it was

For now, don't disable languages.
In fact, English should never be deleted or disabled as it will always serve as the fallback for the most complete language file. If you have 5 languages and they are all missing 1 message or file, then you get errors. If english exists, it always has a fallback to prevent errors.

Yep, I've seen that to and used it myself as I found that quit a handy "bug" where you could still use it in the BO while it was never seen on the SF.

True, also with osCommerce it is recommended never to delete the English language but just to disable it in case there is something with the additional language.

i also had this problem, and i have disabled the english version from the catalog, because i dont use it and i dont want to add english title and description for the products

did you try modifying config.php language?
