I would like to basically "merge" the HTML markup I've been working on for the homepage with the shopping cart for the new website. Is there a place I can edit the current HTML? I basically want to leave the products alone, except for some CSS modification, but there are some elements I want to add to the homepage. How can I do this? Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

I imagine, a lot of peoples would really like to do this, but unfortunately, OC has not been built to do such by 'simple' 'inserat and use' of regular HTML Page Content. If you check a simple theme template file, like the 'product.tpl' PRODUCT PAGE, within the
THEME Subsection, you will find out, what I mean.
You have to know PHP, HTML, plus CSS, rather well, in order to modify any content of OC-Pages, to change the visual Layout, different Modifications in different Files have to be made, in order to make it work.
HTML does exist, as TABLES, Table Rows, Table Dishes, Drop-Down-Selectors, e.t.c., mostly placed within some PHP Sections, and Settings/Placement /Colors/Fonts/etc./etc. is defined and found in the Stylesheet.css file.
Header.tpl and Footer.tpl only can be handled a little easier, but still, it takes good CSS-Knoweldge to avoid Problems, such as placement, overlapping, font-Sizes, Colors and more...
So, whatever you do, the best way is to find a nice Theme-Template, then, add you images and/or Content, but leave, what's needed, in it's Place, as it comes. Or then, get some Pro, able to do it for you. It's tooo much, to find out and make sure, if your'e not familiar with this 'framework-type' kind of 'doing it'.
Good Luck
