Journal2 and OC 2.0.1.1

I have a fresh install of Opencart and wanted to use the Journal2 theme, this was purchased and uploaded.
It all goes wrong at the last stage when you need to Press Refresh icon in extensions/modifications/Refresh button.
The page crashes and produces a whole bunch of errors as in the attached pdf.
I have contacted their support team who have requested ftp and admin access which I have given them.
Another member of their team say this is a faulty config.php file but I can't see how as Opencart works perfectly until their files have been uploaded.

Has any one else experienced this installation problem with Journal2?

This was simply because the /system/modification folder was not writeable.
That doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere!
