Hello,
Using Opencart 1.5.6 and the standard checkout.
The first thing I am looking for is discussion on this from Paypal...
8. Required Use of Express Checkout, Bill Me Later®
If you use Payments Advanced, Payments Pro, or Payments Pro Payflow, you must use Express Checkout in the following manner:
You must include a PayPal Express Checkout button either: (i) before you request the shipping/billing address and other financial information from your customers or (ii) on the same page that you collect such information if you only use one page for your checkout process.
You must offer PayPal as a payment option together with the other payment options you offer. The PayPal acceptance mark must be displayed with equal prominence to the logos for your other payment options. You shall not discriminate against PayPal, nor discourage its use, as a payment option over any other payment option offered by you.
You must provide your customers with the option of not storing their personal information, including their email address, shipping/billing address, and financial information.
If you use Payments Advanced, you must offer Bill Me Later® as a payment option on your hosted checkout page as automatically enabled by PayPal. Any offers associated with Bill Me Later® that you present outside of the hosted checkout page must be displayed in the manner prescribed and instructed by PayPal and approved by PayPal prior to posting.
What that means to me is that I must have paypal express and I have to have it shown as an option before I ask for shipping info. Does anyone else read it that way?

If yes, when I set up and turn on paypal express it doesn't show until step 5, After you ask for shipping info??? So it seems like that is a violation of their terms? Or do I have something set wrong? (edit: for express I needed to turn on the "PayPal Express Checkout button" under modules. How to turn it on answered).

Now that brings up the question of my protection for shipping. I ONLY ship to USA and Canada and ONLY to verified addresses. How can this be set up if they don't have to provide shipping details to me? AND trying a test it looks like it doesn't charge shipping??? That is a deal breaker. How can that be?

Next, does anyone have other recommendations for other payment processors? And what are their monthly and transaction fees?
Paypal just sent me an email saying basically that they are cancelling their deal with me and making me pay the complete / full fees and all associated fees too. (They wooed me over to directly use their service versus going through my bank to give me a lower cost and lower fees but now they sent me an email and are adjusting their agreement and are going to be more expensive then when I was going through my bank to use paypal payflow).

I am also wanting info on other payment processors because I am GUESSING if I can't get paypal express to show before asking for the address information then it looks like I will be in violation of their policy and will not be able to use their service anymore.

Oh... and isn't paypal advanced built into Opencart 1.5.6.x? I thought it was but can't find it. This is one topic I really don't know much about since I have used payflow pro for 8 years now and haven't had to figure out other options. :(

Thank you,
Mike

Folks,

I am very interested in this and it strikes me odd no one else had a problem with the section 8...

""8. Required Use of Express Checkout, Bill Me Later®
If you use Payments Advanced, Payments Pro, or Payments Pro Payflow, you must use Express Checkout in the following manner:"

IF you do not they say this:
"Failure to Use Express Checkout. If you fail to comply with the requirement to use Express Checkout described in Section 8, you may be subject to up to a 1% fee increase to your then current Transaction Fee rate. This fee may be included in your initial rate when you first sign up for the PayPal Services, or may be added at any time by PayPal with 30 days' prior written notice of the fee increase. You agree to terminate your use of the PayPal Services if you do not agree to this fee."

So to me that says either you risk having zero protection because Paypal express doesn't get the address OR you risk them adding 1% transaction fee rate increase.

No one else uses Paypal Payments Advanced, Paypal Payments Pro, or Payments Pro Payflow and worries about this? OR does everyone have a solution for when Paypal express is used and it doesn't do the Address verification?

we use Paypal STD along side Barclaycard epdq.

We only have Paypal as so many customers asked for it, however we have capped transaction values at £500GBP (about $750USD) Partially due to the way they calculate charges based on the previous month but primarily because of their terms and conditions relating to disputes. Our transactions can often be £4000-5000.

I refuse to use PayPal express as their button quotes "the safer, easier way to pay". Okay it is easy, but is it safer than MasterCard Secure Code or Verified by Visa? Does it suggest that I'm offering a substandard processor in Barclaycard?

If you ain't happy, find another processor, Paypal has too bigger slice of the market already.
