How to disable 'Add to Cart' if out of stock

How can I disable the add to cart button if out of stock and maybe add a message if there is not enough quantity to add?

Opencart 2.0.1.1 (upgraded from 1.5.4)


Also there is still the issue with the extension installer not functioning and I get the following error:

SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data

Then it can't seem to find the installer.php file

Would really appreciate any help.
