how do filter/narrow down search results by multiple ways?

Hi. MUCH appreciative of any support you are able to give me.

I'm about to set up my store and I need to be able to make it so my customers can narrow down their search results by multiple attributes in one search..
ie. I'm selling songs ..
I want the customer to be able to have 4 categorized lists (either checkmarks or dropdown) to narrow results.
GENDER - TEMPO - MOOD - GENRE

each one giving all the options of each category to choose from..
I need them to be able to choose their liking in all 4 categories so that their results are refined.
If any were left blank, it would show all results from the unselected categories.

and am wondering a) can this be done with Opencart, and b) how do I go about this?

I did this with squirrelcart years back by assigning each song(item) all of it's relative category attributes..

but want to make sure this is possible with Opencart before diving in too deep.

Hopefully I'm not in over my head here as it's been years - but I'm low on budget and trying to build this myself rather then hiring someone.

you can use opencart filters for that or, better, buy an advanced filter extension from the store. The are several ones over there and I analysed most of them in the past. IMHO best one currently is Mega Filter Plus. Also developer support is great.
