Contact Us Opencart 2

In developing a site on Localhost I am trying to get the comments box on the contact page wider to allow a better layoiut of information I want to put there. Have tried to change the code in the contact tpl but it does not change anything on the view. Is this a bootstrap issue? Grateful for any help

The message box on the contact us page is already 10 columns wide (2 columns on the left are for the label)

The columns are defined by bootstrap classes
