Hi,
I have a clean install from OC 2 and Im using the default template.
My OC does something weird.
I upload a file called TEST.rar and once the upload is done OC has added lots of numbers on the file extension ( TEST.rar.500661c1ad548de23a08539656f8bb31), which causes the file to be corrupt and not downloadable as a rar anymore.
When I go into the control panel from my host and change the file to its original name it becomes downloadable again.
But that is just not convenient.
When I upload the file via FTP I can add it to the product but once checked out there will be now download link in the costumer history.

I really would like to know how I can upload a rar file without OC changing the file extension.

Can anyone please help me on this one????
Thanks Judith

changing the file extension is to hide it from direct access. There isn't anything wrong with the system. After you have uploaded a rar file, people will only be able to access it from the download URL opencart assigns so no one will be able to directly access the file without permisison

In addition, you can upload your files via ftp to the system/download directory

Then manually add them via your admin Catalog - Downloads

For the File, rather than browsing to upload a file, simply type i nthe name of the file you uploaded by ftp earlier.

The drawback with this is that the files will have no hash code on the end

Hi All,

I hope I'm in the right place here. :) I am totally HTML illiterate :)

I would like to upload a zip file as a downloadable product. When I attempt to upload this zip file, Open Cart tells me it's the incorrect file type.

What type of file do I need to have to upload the product, or must I do it through the FTP as suggested in this post?

Please help, I'm am sooooo frustrated. :)

Thanks in advance for the help.

In the list of mime types under the "Server" tab on the system settings page in the admin, you'll find a list of allowed mime types. You need to add the following:
  • application/x-zip-compressed
For some reason, this one is not there.

Multistore Extensions

Check the "upload_max_filesize" define in the php.ini file at the top level of your store's directory.

The default setting should be 999M.
