I removed all the previous manufacturers but they still appear on the home page.





I use the theme Ancart and I have no doubt that I've cleared my cache,cookies etc.

I think you will find that under system/design/banners/Manufactures

You are confusing two seperate things.
That slider is called Carousel.

Go to Admin and login.
Then go to Extensions/Modules/Carousel/Edit.
There you will find a banner attached called Manufactures.
If you want to completely remove the banner then either select Status "Disabled", or go one step back to modules and click "Uninstall".

If you want to keep the slider but update the manufacture list, then go to System, Design, Banners, Manufacturers, and update the Manufacturers banner as you see fit.

At least these are the steps for default theme.

Since you are using a custom theme Ancart, the steps might be slightly different, so inspect your theme to understand how to update the slider, or get in touch with developers of the theme.
