Genesis of this suggestion: I would like to have some “Content Only” pages in my store. The Pages in Catalog/Information are ideal for it.

However, I do not want to add any modules to the default Opencart pages ( About Us, Privacy Policy, Returns Policy, Terms & Conditions, etc.)

I would like to be able to DUPLICATE/COPY any of these pages and save them under a different Layout name. This way, I could apply any module specifically to it.

So, my recommendation is to create an option to Duplicate Layouts.
If there is already a way around it, please let me know

This is an example of a page that I have inserted under Catalog/Information: http://yzerr.com/index.php?route=inform ... tion_id=14

The problem is that the “Side Product” Module is applied to the whole “Information Layout”

Thanks

Code: Select all

<?php echo $column_left; ?><?php echo $column_right; ?>
the above shown Column commands are responsible to present LEFT and RIGHT Secions on a Page,
i.E., in the >>catalog\view\theme\default\template\information\information.tpl<<

if you remove them, you should have full page without left/right Box Content.

If this is what you mean...

Thank you IP_CAM, for your reply.
Your solution will effectively remove Left/Right columns. However, this will not solve ma problem.

If you don’t mind, I will explain using exactly the files I am working on.

If you can please take a look at this page, http://yzerr.com/partners.shtml,
You will see 5 tabs/links named Prerequisites / Image Requirements / Submission Form / Payment Info / Business Tools

You can notice that these are simple html files that where created under the old version of my site (without Opencart)

My goal now is to create the same files under my Opencart site. And, I would like all these 5 files to belong to their own Layout, because I do have some modules that will be applied strictly to them.

Duplicating and renaming an existing Opencart Layout would be an ideal solution. But, It looks like such feature does not exist.

What approach would you suggest I should take?

Thanks

ok, if you don't have it already, download the OPENSHOP EXTENSION from the OC Add-On Section. It contains many useful things, in this case, a CMS Textblock Section.
Copy/Paste the Source of your HTML Stuff into such a TEXTBLOCK Section, then, place it in your Shop, where you like to have it.
That should do, I hope...

Good Luck

I added just a sample image, but you can put just aboutanything there. On the front Page of this site, I added some text as well.

When you have a series of related files, it is always best that they fall under the same category/layout – easy management
Your suggestion will certainly be helpful in various scenarios, but it lacks the structure that I want to have.

I intend to create a lot more pages as I grow my business. Consequently, a better organization of my data is crucial. That’s why I have decided to go for a content management platform.

But once again thank you for your support.

Hopefully the Opencart Development team will see the need to create a feature that allows us to Duplicate a Layout.

I like to point out here that a similar feature already exist when it comes to adding Products to a Category. You can copy an existing product and just rename it for your next product .

Use Layout override for the information pages.
Create new Layouts, asign to Information page and modules you want to show on that layout.
