Dear all,
I don't know if this is the right place where to write what follows:
I found in one template (developer "@dswww" - template name: sup-x62G - License: Free -) a HIDDEN javascript for HIDDEN advertising. Of course it was not a huge problem its elimination even if the code was written so that the template hadn't worked no more... Sure these hidden files will be also in others contributions of this developer, I have no time to check it...
I wrote it in the comments of the template and my comment was promptly removed.
Is this behaviour of @dswww correct? I think even if the contrubution is free, people has to know there are inside hidden files for advertising of thirdy party companies ... Not all are so skillfull to find these quasi-virus :-)
below some code. A nice day to everybody.
<style type="text/css">
#autor{margin:0;position: fixed;bottom:0px;left:0px;clear:both;color:#666;font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:8px;z-index:0;text-align:left;}#autor p{margin:0;padding:0;}#autor a{color:#666;font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:8px;text-decoration:none;}#autor a:hover{color:#fff;}
</style>
<?php $sys = "</div><script>
$(function() {
$( '#autor_info' ).dialog({
autoOpen: false,
show: {
effect: 'blind',
duration: 1000
},
hide: {
effect: 'explode',
duration: 1000
}
});
$( '#opener' ).click(function() {
$( '#autor_info' ).dialog( 'open' );
});

Well, the author states clearly that the template has an advertising link included:
Basically the same type of advertising OpenCart is doing itself in the corescript!
And the author is writing some about that link, Opencart not.

Yes, but the link is not as usual clear and visible (he might also insert a link to porno or pedopornographic partners).
The author had also to specify WHO is linked and where this link is positioned (in my case was in the FIRST lines of the header, the most important for Google.). This for full information about the contribution. We, as end user of the contributions, have the right TO KNOW what we publish on our websites (for a link in MY HEADER he had to pay me... and the author sure get money from "partners")
This sentence is not the truth (or better only a part of the truth)
"Free template includes a link to the author and partner. Template without the link is sent for a small donation."
the correct sentence is
"Free template includes a HIDDEN link IN THE HEADER OF YOUR WEBSITE to the author and partner (name of the partners). Template without the link is sent for a small donation OF EURO XX"
This is my opinion, but I may also be wrong...

Such types if hidden links are not correct - except the author is highlighting this practice.
Thanks for posting.
Addionally you can also report the extension (see the link there) if you think some is going wrong.
The OC-team will check then and set possible actions.
