The subject says it... This would be a GREAT feature. I just got 'locked' by one of my wholesalers because they did a price update that I never received. This caused us to be below their advertised price and they refused to sell until we corrected a lot of products.
My main wholesaler does provide a update feed for quantity and price (based on MPN) and if I could get this feed sent to me by them, and then be able to update using some sort of extension it would be fantastic.

I found one for quantity updates that hasn't been updated in a long while.

I have been able to adapt it to opencart version 1.5.6.
I will update (read hack it) to be able to function properly and with VQMod for updating quantities and share it here.
I WILL NOT promise it will work for everyone, or that it will not blow up your site, but it will work for quantity updates.
I'll have to see about price updates next.

Thanks I did see that one, it does not work for what I am looking for. The place I see that one falls short is that it has to have multiple human interactions for the updates. What I was looking for is to take the feed that my wholesaler offered to send to us and do a blanket update.
I am pretty close to modifying the one I linked to and getting it to work.
I should have it uploaded for people to use pretty soon (in a week at most).

I don't guarantee anything but it worked perfectly on my site. If you use it, and it works on another version of opencart, PLEASE let me know so I can update the list of what versions it works with.
It is based on SKU or Model only, but since we use the MPN as the SKU, this works for us. If you need something otehr then model or SKU then you'll need to adapt it for your use.

You set those in the Admin of your store, not your file permissions.
Go into Admin --> system --> Users --> User groups. Select the user group you log into admin and click "edit". Then set the user group permission for the tool/inventory_update by clicking on the checkboxes for the access and modify permissions.

Thank you as I have been trying to figure out how to do this too.
One question, how does it handle products with different sizes? My clothing manufacturer for instance has different skus and upcs for each size/color. I am using options boost extension so am putting in the sku variants for each size. Will it update them properly?

Running Opencart v3.0.3.9 with multi-stores and the default template from https://www.labeshops.com which has links to all my stores.
Sorry Labeshops, this doesn't touch the database table that deals with options. It just deals with the "product" table in the database only.
The problem is, the product_option_value table is where the option price resides and that table by itself doesn't include either the model or SKU just the product_id so it would beyond the scope of this simple extension to be able to cross reference the product_id to model or SKU then to the option_id for that product.
It would be nice but it would be much more difficult and outside my abilities.

I need a extension that will rapidly introduce new products to the store.
Csv file, which will give all the necessary information into the database. Extension import/export tool does not work with a large number of products. Anyone seen it?

Version 0.7 2 Changes:
1). Changed to it can have less then all three fields required. The problem reported was people not having a price field and using excel to edit. This would cause the file to have:
floor1,12
(notice no 2nd comma). Without the 2nd comma the script would kick an error about not enough fields.
2). A second fix; If someone enclosed the fields in quotes “” the script would not know what to do with it. Now it strips the quotes.
