Copyright Extensions on Mijoshop!

To sellers of extensions on OpenCart:
There are many extensions that are copied and placed onto mijoshop's extension directory. Go search for any that is yours and request them to remove if you're not selling them!
Their web shop:
http://med.miwisoft.com/
To buyers of extensions:
Only buy legit copies from OpenCart.com. Do not purchase if you're unsure. Always view a live demo if possible, and only purchase from trusted extensions with at least some reviews.

They have opened their webshop to devs from this forum. Any of my mods on their shop, at least with my name on them, are put there by me. I cannot say that all mods there are authorized by the individual devs but be aware that some of them are there because the devs put them there.

Yes, I believe all extensions there are added by the authors. I don't think MijoShop is stealing any extensions.
I do find it a bit cheeky, though, that they want developers to not only do the extra work of making their extensions compatible with MijoShop (which can be a pain) but then they want a cut of the sales!

Suffice to say I won't be listing my extensions there. I consider my edits to make my extensions compatible its own service to MijoShop.

Many or some devs have published also there their extensions.

How stupid is this??
Why should someone buy ONLY from the Opencart.com store?
There are more stores outside with legit copies.
Verify first your statements before posting such nonsens and be carefully what you are writing.
Because this would also mean: do not buy any extension at MarketInSG because they are not trustful.

I understand that those with the matching developers names are posted by themselves. However, I noticed quite a number of extensions not matching the developers name. Just a kind notice to all that doesn't sell on both sides to take a look. Well, some guys may just be selling a copy of your extensions, and even using the exact same screenshot at their shop. That's what is happening for a couple of my extensions, and haven't been removed since January...this is getting pretty frustrating...

Oh yes, really, only purchase legit copies. Not have to be off opencart.com, but at least ensure that it works and comes with the technical support you need (should you need).
It's amusing when someone goes to you claiming a purchase but you didn't sell it..

Any of my extensions with my name attached to it on the Mijosoft Extension Directory were put there by me.
I agree with Johnathan, Mijoshop can be a real pain to adapt your extensions to, especially when it comes to the interface programming.
Cheers,
Joel.

Feel free to have a look at this vendor:
http://med.miwisoft.com/developer/exten ... ndor_id=60
clone
original
Well, both extensions are free, but there are a number of paid ones that doesn't seems like theirs (2 to 3 of those look like what I had developed...). Mijoshop doesn't seem to bother much too, so well, just a heads up for anyone that cares and doesn't sell there.
Mijoshop themselves have a number of free extensions from the opencart store, but at least they credit the original author

Well, if mijosoft is so hardworking at the forums instead of checking their own email account, how about
http://med.miwisoft.com/mijoshop/tools/ ... lor-picker
and
http://marketinsg.com/colour-picker
and also (this is obvious, the admin fields are all named exactly the same as ours here)
http://med.miwisoft.com/mijoshop/tools/ ... e-checkout
and
http://marketinsg.com/quick-checkout
Look alike? They can start removing those too since they seem to read this post.

The checkout one does look suspicously close to yours. I'd contact them about it, and see if they can prove the code is different or not based on yours. If they can't, I'd pursue some type of action against them.

Might be preaching to the choir, but simply don't use MijoShop. It was permanently banned for life from the Joomla! Extension Directory. My own experience is that they are unethical and can't be trusted. Beware.

Use pure OpenCart. It's a lot leaner and faster. Any features that you need can be added with the vast library of OpenCart extensions available. This includes blogging, articles, forum, etc. A good developer can extend OpenCart features to support any requirements.

Seems like OpenCart is not the only place that banned them. So they are on their own now I believe. We should encourage others not to build an OpenCart within Joomla.

I always have encouraged OpenCart and now I am going as far as to advise clients to stay away from MijoShop altogether.
I have even been using a custom modified version of OC as a CMS for non e-commerce projects. I love developing with a relational database and MVC code structure. WordPress is arguably the most popular CMS, but it can be a procedural mess. That popularity rests heavily on making it less painful for non-developers to use, including installing extensions and upgrading versions. Rather than go down the same road, I hope that OpenCart can appeal more to the broader developer community.

We have used MijoShop/MiwiSoft for a few years now. I will not comment on our satisfaction right now, but I wanted to chime in and at least say that I see a huge value in having Joomla and OpenCart working together. Publishing OC extensions to Joomla module positions is pretty nice. Joomla is much more robust in way of security and versatility. This is not to knock OC, but let OC continue to perfect the shopping cart and Joomla to continue to perfect CMS.
Of course, if you have a LOT of time and are a freaking PHP/SQL/HTML/CSS wiz, you can make anything you want out of anything. I guess it is a question of recreating the wheel or not and then it would be a question of compatibility with other things, etc.
My thoughts.
If you chime in on my post specifically, try to keep it more about OC/Joomla vs MijoShop. I do value your objective thoughts there.

@gmedia01: there are certainly more configuration options and settings in the back-end CMS of Joomla. OpenCart is more bare-bones and arguably is missing some must-haves (no meta tags on Information pages?!). BUT, you can add features as necessary with extensions and custom code. It's not necessary to reinvent the wheel, because of the large library of extensions and pretty solid community of developers. And custom coding new PHP/SQL/HTML/CSS isn't all that time-consuming if you follow the same design patterns of the OpenCart "framework".
The rub is that it is definitely more of a challenge for a non-technical person to build and maintain. The advantage is that, all other things being equal (server, caching), the website is leaner and faster. Every Joomla website I've worked on seems a bit sluggish (resource-hoggish?) and running OpenCart inside it seems to be unnecessarily complex, complicated, and even redundant for some things.
For an example of a relatively complex website built on pure OpenCart, see
https://www.bestchefsamerica.com. E-commerce is only minor/secondary. The Chefs index and 4,600+ profile pages were custom-built by extending the OC database. The Blog is built on an available blog extension (with some customizations).

I had the same experience with them. I would rather continue to struggle along (occasionally)

with OC and have a TON of folks in an active, moderated forum to help me out than deal with their nonsense.

One of my free extension (ridiculous simple extension) is published there
http://med.miwisoft.com/mijoshop/tools/ ... -tax-price from someone called "Tota".
The original:
http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route ... n_id=11050
They are so funny that have left my contact details in the zip file!
I realised it after a support request from a user who has downloaded from there.
I 've sent them an email yesterday but the extension is still there.

Mijoshop / Miwisoft will not be bothered to remove it since they posted the extensions to fill up their marketplace. Everyone should avoid working with their company at all cost.
