Automated Random Specials

Hi Everyone,

I think this would be better as an extension but it is something I would really like to see.

The idea is to be able to automate the creation of product specials, with a randomly selected discount.

The basic concept is:

1. You could set a special price for every single product, or set a default percentage eg 10-20% for all products.
2. You set the number of specials to be used at any given time.
3. You set a timeframe until the next specials refresh.

What would happen is each week you would have a completely new set of specials for a certain amount of products.
Then the week after it would randomly select another set of specials. It would save the admin a lot of time if they are happy to give a certain discount to each product.

Another way to do it would be to set a default discount percentage that randomizes. So for example you would set 10%-20% discount in the admin somewhere. Then select the number of specials you would like to show and also the timeframe until it refreshes. Then each week you would have a whole new fresh batch of products with special prices to keep customers engaged. The special prices would change each time due to the system picking a random number between 10% and 20%.

If anyone knows of an extension that does this please let me know.
