I have a similar issue ...

I tried to upgrade from 1.5.1.3 but this has gone miserably wrong.

I have created a clean database, then imported the database from 1.5.1.3, I then did a clean upload of 1.5.6.1 and then copied the images folder across as I need to switch the theme ... I then ran the upgrade process which I believe corrects missing values on the database

I then went through the required steps in regards of user-rights etc.

all my data is working correctly and I can browser my items, however majority of my items have incorrect images. it seems like they use a replacement image for some reason. I did run a chmod 755 -R in case you wonder and space is plenty.

looking at the image browser, I use folders for various items, the images in the folder are shown as with 0kb and the viewer doesnt work either - when you drill down into folders and reload it keeps duplicating the root folder as you can see in my attachment - I would think this is the main reason but I cant figure out what is wrong here.

anyone experienced this?

ok performed the same steps but this time I upgraded to 1.5.5.1 only - system works as expected ... must be something with the update of 1.5.6.1 I guess
