Hey folks, I recently came across OpenCart by accident and I'm very much impressed.
I'm thinking of porting out companies over to use this system instead, but before doing so I have a couple of questions:
- Is affiliate marketing supported
Perhaps using one of the plugins?
With Affiliate I mean that other people can market your products and when customers land using their link, it remembers where they came from in order to pay a percentage of the sale to them.

Another question:
- Are royalties supported?
Say I sell a product that needs to pay for both the publisher and the author (percentage wise), is there a module that keeps track of that... say monthly?

Really? Nobody...?

Affiliates seems to have a little prelim work done but doesn't exist in the cart as of now. Haven't heard of anything being done with royalties. Seems like it would be a very niche feature.

So how does the affiliates extension work? I've searched in the features area on the home page, extensions and the forum. I'm running v1.4.6.

There is no affiliates extension right now. that link is just a placeholder. There is a third party commercial module that does affiliates.

I had a feeling this was the case. I looked in the Qphoric shop earlier to see if he had anything there. Where may I find this third party module?

that's the thread that has the link to the affiliate system. There was no answer in that thread about if it's been updated to work with the latest opencart you may have to ask on the systems support.

in the new release of opencart in the extensions tab, there is a menuiteem that is called "AFFILIATES"
what is this exactly, what purpose does it have?

It is just a placeholder where the affiliate system is going to be built. It doesn't do anything right now.

As i thought then, i was just a bit confused - why put a placeholder in a release?
but ok, now i know.

How much for this module? Will you update it to 1.4.8 when its released?

Just FYI, the affiliate menu under Extensions will be removed in 1.4.8 as it was planned at one point but now we are looking at a different way to handle it

Is 1.4.8 very close to release Q? I read your dev post, but just wondering if there is anything hindering a release soon?

Surely i will update my affiliate system as per the opencart release.
And for older release as per the client's request only, i can able to release.

Now i am growing my marketing area to support the affilite system globally.
