I have setup my opencart install (FRESH). I have everything setup. My weight setting is set for ounces, all my products are set as ounces in the weight. Each item weighs 6.5oz, so I had the weight based shipping module set as such:

6.5:2.00,13:4.00,19.5:5.00,26:7.00,32.5:9.00,39:11.00

This way if just one item is put in the shopping cart, it should show up as 2.00 for shipping, 4.00 for 2 items and so forth. Well nothing shows up when I go to checkout. I get an error saying "Shipping method required". I searched this forum and found Q saying to do 999999:10 for US, so I changed it to that to see if it would work, and that didn't work either. Version of Opencart is 1.4.0. Any ideas on why this wouldn't be working?

Had the ame problem with a customer last week.

The Customer must be in the same Geo-Zone like you put your weight-classes in.

e.g. if you have the weight based shipping with "US Shipping VAT" and the customer is from france, it will not showing him this shipping method.

I think you are right. I setup a GEO zone For United States and ALL Zones and hit save. I went back in to check and it defaulted to Afghanistan - All Zones. So I created another zone to see what it would do, and set it to US - All Zones, hit save, said it saved but it defaulted back to Afghanistan - All Zones. It isn't saving my Geo Zones now. Any reasons why? It wouldn't even show up "Free Shipping" when I had my Address set as California, USA. When I changed it to Afghanistan though, it allowed the free shipping to show.

Normally when it said it's saved, it should be done but for sure check Permission in "User Groups"-> Top Administrator.

Otherwise I have no idea where the problem is. You can try to edit the entry in your database manually.

It was a permissions issue. Which also appears to have fixed the weight based shipping issue as well. Thanks Scot80! I apprecaite your help, it really helped me go in the right direction and fix the issue, that wasn't an issue with opencart but my configurations.

I know this has nothing to do witht he shipping but, Scot80, you wouldn't happen to know where I can change the "cheque" to "Check". I am in the USA and that is the way we say and write it, in the USA. Thanks

I don't know where your "cheque" appears but I think it's in this file:

/catalog/language/english/payment/cheque.php

Yes it is. I just found it like 10 minutes ago. I have learned to check the language file to change or add anything. I am a beginner when it comes to all of this, so I am learning and it helps to have people like you and others in this community willing to help out us beginners. Thanks!

what was wrong in your permission settings?? Tell us please where and what did you ticked or unticked in the options for it works now. thanks

well, i'm testing with permissions correct and a dummy user in same geo-zone and everything mentioned above and in other threads and Weight Based shipping still does not show up.

Trying with a visitor order, activated UK shipping and uk geozone, nada, zero, zip.

Definitely NOT solved.

Same thing here -- everything looks like it should be good, but the shipping is just not being applied :/
